The redesign of Fashion Valley Mall recalls the understated elegance of an inviting garden. The project palette integrates a bold variety of earth tones, light and dark metals, glass and stone textures. Extensive awnings and trellises provide shading from direct sunlight and blend the indoor and outdoor spaces. Introducing outdoor “living rooms” with soft seating along the main corridor create intimate spaces apart from the major pedestrian circulation with planting areas and mid-story trees with taller palms, creating filtered shade. New accent planting areas and pottery between the store fronts compliment the facades and add to the guest experience. The outdoor dining court was modified to provide more intimate dining spaces with greater views of the lower level areas of the mall while providing shade for a significantly more comfortable experience.
